Sustainability and second-hand clothing

At SO INDUSTRIE, second-hand clothing is not a marketing argument: it is a logical way to consume. We select pieces that already have a history and are designed to last.

Unlike fast fashion, the garments we offer, whether Heritage or premium, were designed with quality materials, solid construction and a clear intention behind their design. Giving them a second life extends their use without having to manufacture more.

Second-hand clothing therefore helps reduce the environmental impact of textile production: fewer resources used, less transport and less waste. It is a more responsible approach that also fits the pieces we offer.

This principle is even stronger in our Heritage collection. Many pieces come from older production runs, sometimes from historical periods, and have already lasted several decades. Keeping, wearing and passing them on also preserves part of their history instead of replacing it.

Choosing vintage is also a decision based on value and quality. Older clothing, especially pieces made in the USA or France, was often produced to higher manufacturing standards than those commonly found today. Materials, construction techniques and overall durability were approached differently.

By contrast, quality has declined across much of today’s production. Second-hand clothing therefore provides access to better-made pieces while offering better value over the long term.

For our premium selection, we choose high-end technical clothing designed to last. A well-maintained jacket can retain its performance for many years, avoiding the need to replace equipment constantly.

Our approach is based on thoughtful selection: less quantity, more quality. Each piece is chosen for its durability, condition and ability to remain wearable over time.

Buying second-hand is more than an alternative: it is a smarter way to consume.
