Item condition and care

At SO INDUSTRIE, we pay particular attention to the condition of the pieces we offer. The vast majority of our items are selected in very good or near-new condition. Whenever a piece has a flaw or signs of wear, these are systematically mentioned in the description and/or clearly visible in the listing photographs. Our aim is for every customer to know precisely the condition of the piece they are buying, with no hidden defects.

Beyond selecting our pieces, we place great importance on their care. A well-maintained garment can last for many years while retaining its properties and appearance. In contrast, a neglected piece can quickly lose its technical and aesthetic qualities.

Regular care therefore helps extend a garment’s life and save money, as a well-maintained piece will often retain the same functions as a more recent garment.

Technical Wear care

For our Technical Wear selection, particularly technical pieces from brands such as Arc’teryx, we use care methods suited to the materials. Technical jackets are cleaned using specialist products designed for membranes such as Gore-Tex. Where necessary, we then apply waterproofing and water-repellent treatments to restore their original performance.

For our Montbell down jackets, we clean them and restore the loft of the filling when necessary, helping each jacket’s down retain its volume.

Heritage clothing care

In our Heritage collection, care mainly concerns natural materials and older pieces. Leather jackets, particularly flight jackets, are treated using specialist products suited to the leather to preserve its suppleness and durability. For example, caring for the leather of a B-3 flight jacket differs from caring for an A-2 or G-1.

In some cases, particularly with old leather or leather weakened over time, we may carry out light restoration to give the piece a new lease of life without altering its character, keeping its appearance as faithful as possible to its original state. This applies especially to some older pieces or models that have become rare.

Conversely, some very rare pieces may deliberately be left in their original, unrestored condition. For historical originals, we therefore keep restoration to a minimum to preserve their character and authenticity. Signs of age, or patina, become an integral part of the garment’s history and give it a unique vintage charm.

Each piece receives care suited to its nature: preserving performance for technical items or respecting the history of Heritage pieces.

Our aim remains the same: to offer clothing that can stand the test of time and continue to be worn for many years in the best possible condition.
